What to bring to a concert/festival?

When I first went to a concert I had no idea what to take with me. I decided to write a post on what to take with you to a concert or festival, so you won’t make the same mistakes I did. This is just some tips and advice on what to bring to a concert or festival.

Bag. Of course you have to bring a bag to put all your essentials in. I think it’s best to not bring a backpack, because having a heavy weight on your back while jumping around isn’t that nice. Especially when it’s very crowded and you have expensive things in your bag. While everyone is just crowding around you, you might have a feeling like people are stealing your stuff or you just don’t feel as save. So I would advise to bring a cross body bag, so you can keep your properties close to yourself.

Wallet/purse. It’s nice to have some money with you when you go to a concert, if you want to buy merchandise or food/drinks. Merchandise can be expensive so make sure you bring enough money with you, but not too much because if you get robbed it’ll be a waste. It’s probably for the best if you leave your debit card or any other cards with money on it at home, in case you lose it or you're going to get robbed. Besides, in most of the venues at the merchandise stand they don’t accept debit cards.

ID-card. Don’t forget your ID-card. Nowadays most of the tickets stand on a name, so sometimes they will ask you to show your ID. Especially when you have to pick up your tickets at the box-office, you have to bring your ID-card. Also when you might have Meet & Greet tickets for the concert, you usually have to bring your ID-card. If you don’t have an ID-card, usually any other card with a photograph and your name on it will be okay.

Concert/festival tickets. It may seem like the most logic thing, but I know lots of people forget to bring their tickets so it might be the best if you keep the ticket in your wallet/purse.

Phone. Bring your phone with you and make sure it’s charged. You could keep in contacts with your friends if you’re going to meet up with them, or to call your parents to pick you up, or to keep updated on what the artist is tweeting.

Camera. You should check on the website of the venue if you're allowed to bring any cameras. If it's not on the website, you could email the venue just to make sure if you’re allowed to bring cameras cause it would be a waste if you had to give your camera to the security... Sometimes venues say that you're not allowed to bring "professional cameras". I've been told that they classify camera with a big lens/replaceable lens as " a professional camera". But nowadays you have really good compact cameras with amazing quality and great zoom. I'm really happy with the camera I have, it's the "Canon Powershot SX260 HS" and it is great to use at gigs.

Drinks/food. You are usually not allowed to bring food into the venue but sometimes they do allow you to bring a bottle of water, but you should check if there is anything about that on the venue’s website. Most of the times they check your bag outside the venue to see if you have liquids or food in your bag, and if you do you most likely have to throw them away.

Scrunchies, hairclips or headbands. I know that the most fun part of going to a concert is getting ready and dressing up. Lots of girls always either straight or curl their hair because they think that that will look the best. But trust me, whenever you straight your hair and you get sweaty – and trust me you will get sweaty –  it will get really fizzy. You have to bring some sort of hair accessory with you so you can always pull your hair up if it’s annoying you. Hairclips are always handy if you want to get your hair out of your face or if you want to pull your bangs aside. At festivals you can see lots of floral headbands. It’s not only stylist but will also keep your hair out of your face.

Mini deodorant. It’s always nice to have some kind of thing in your bag to fresh you up a bit. Lots of brands have mini deodorants who you can easily put in your bag.

Sunglasses. If you are going to a festival outside it could get really sunny outside. Of course you should bring your sunglasses with you to protect your eyes from the sun.

Sunscreen. When it’s boiling hot outside you have to protect your skin. You should use sunscreen under your makeup, or use makeup with a high enough SPF so it will protect you from the sun. Put it on before you leave but also bring a small bottle with you so you can re-apply it later if you want to.

Make up. This is optional of course, because when you did your make up at home it’s not really essential to bring all of your make up with you to the concert. But if you like you can bring like a little powder or a lipgloss/lipstick/lipbalms with you. If you’re going to a big gig and you might sweat, I suggest that you don’t wear too much makeup. Not more than you would usual wear to school or work.
